Modern Medicine's Biggest Failure

OMG!  Do I really look like this when I talk?  Anyway, this is the prednisone vlog.  I'll warn you, it is a bit on the long side (about 11 minutes), but there is a bit of repeating.  I hope to try and do one vlog a month.  Let me know what you think about this one, and feel free to give any suggestions you have about the topic of future vlogs.

  1. Leslie, sorry to hear about your experience with prednisone. My mother has been on prednisone for the past 2 years for her sudden onset severe asthma. As a result of this, she has facial swelling, rashes, weight gain, depression, joint pain, and extreme fatigue. She has also developed osteoporosis because of it. It is truly awful. I didn't understand why she felt the way she did but after watching your video it makes sense.

Also I'm about to be diagnosed with RA so I may have to take it as well. Sigh.

  2. I have had 3 journey's with pred. I swear it's the devils playground. I had an open talk with my rheumy and we collectively decided it's not for me. I broke my foot, my finger and then rebroke my foot while on it. NOT cool. I don't know what I will do in the future but for today, no pred. I started enbrel two weeks ago. I'm hoping so very much this helps my pain and inflammation.

What is good for one is horrible for another so I tell others, do what YOU feel is best for YOU.

    Hugs

  3. Hi Leslie, I found your vlog really helpful as I started 10 mg prednisolone (UK spelling) 3 wks ago for a flare in my lupus symptoms. So far so good, although I am acutely aware of all the potential side effects. I guess in the long term it really depends on how bad our symptoms get, & especially if they become life threatening, then we have no choice but to take the steroids as they are the only thing that works quickly & effectively which is available at the moment. I would like to ask how you & any of your blog readers have found the steroids help with fatigue? I am on a low dose, & my fatigue is definately improved but still my biggest issue. Any comments would be gratefully received. Best wishes for the future Leslie, your blog is so helpful & inspirational. X
