I'm Gonna Say It Again...

You’ve got to have friends.

I saw the “Sex and the City” movie and I LOVED IT!!!

It was one of those movies that made me laugh and cry. And there was something comforting about the familiar – Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha. We all have friends who are those girls. We are those girls…

One thing that surprised me was that despite the toned bodies, the faces of the characters had aged. I guess I had sort of expected them to have plastic-y, worked-on faces. But they didn’t. And you know what? It made me kind of happy. Even the characters who remain forever young in our minds age. Time withers them, too.

But, if there’s one thing to be taken away from the movie, it’s that you’ve got to have friends.

Not just any kind of friends.

The kind that will be there to save you from failed relationships.

To make you laugh during even your darkest hour.

And sometimes, they even save you from yourself.

Another Word About "Sex and the City"

I know it’s cheesy, but I absolutely can’t wait for the movie to come out on May 30th!

"Sex and the City"

This all makes me think back to the “Sex and the City” episode where Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda go with Samantha to chemo. It’s a hot summer day and they are all sitting there eating Popsicles, keeping Samantha company, and making the best out of an otherwise crappy situation.

I think it has to be just about one of my favorite episodes of the entire series.

However, it also profoundly saddens me.

Why?

Well, last week, when I had to go for my infusions, other than my immediate family members, no one was banging down my door, telling me that they were coming with me, no matter what I said to dissuade them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m truly grateful to the people that were there for me. And I know that there were people who weren’t there, who were supporting me in other ways…

But what about all of the people that weren’t?

Do I not have good friends?

Am I a bad person?

Am I expecting too much from people?

And why does a show about sex and shopping have some many life lessons to teach us?

"The Real Housewives of New York City"

Lately I’ve found myself obsessed with “The Real Housewives of New York City” of Bravo fame. I think it’s because I find the worries of uber rich people completely amusing.

You know, everyone thinks that rich people have it so easy, and in some ways, they do. However, it’s not as if they don’t have worries. Even though those worries might be different than most peoples, they exist, just the same.

It just goes to show that the old adage, “money doesn’t buy happiness,” is totally true!
