  1. Hello Leslie,

I am the Digital Outreach Director at My ID Square (www.MyIDSquare.com), a new medical ID jewelry company that provides an innovative service to people with medical conditions and allergies. We admire your gettingclosertomyself blog very much and would appreciate if you would be willing to do a review. We have been reviewed at www.trustmeimamom.com and we are getting fantastic feedback from parents, teens and seniors. Would you be interested in reviewing products on your blog?

My ID Square's Medical IDs go beyond any comparable product on the market. In the event of an emergency, first responders can scan the colorful QR code or follow the unique URL on the back of the jewelry which link to an online medical profile maintained by users. The medical profile includes the person’s name, photo, date of birth, chronic conditions and allergies, medications, emergency contacts, pharmacies, preferred hospitals, and much more--all in an easy to read format. Additionally, emergency contacts are texted and emailed when a scan a occurs, giving loved ones peace of mind knowing that they will be alerted in the event of an emergency.

We believe that your readers, who are concerned about living with chronic illness would greatly benefit from our IDs, which we call SquIDs (for Square IDs). Please do check out My ID Square’s website, and I would be happy to send you a sample of one of our products for review.

If you would like a copy of our recent Press Release or FACT sheet, please let me know.

    Sincerely,
    Aaron Glickman
Director of Digital Outreach (or whatever title you want)

  2. Hi Leslie,

I just came across your blog, very insightful, I can't imagine two chronic illnesses, double the fun!

I have some similar experiences to you. I was diagnosed with RA when I was in the middle of grad school at 27. That totally changed my trajectory. I was a teacher at UT for several years before I moved to California. My RA was very bad, lots of drug studies, I had years of finding the right "cocktail" and a few years ago, my most successful drug got blacklisted from my insurance company. I was so upset, I thought my life was practically over! But it turned out I found a much better drug that has helped me immensely.

Since I've had RA, I've done things I never thought I would. I got married and had my amazing daughter - the best thing that has ever happened to me. I just want to let you know it is possible. It is VERY hard (getting off meds, taking meds to detox meds, going through IVF, etc...) Now that I'm 58, I can honestly say I wouldn't change anything (what's so great about EASY anyway). If you'd like to know anything about pregnancy and RA, please drop me a line! And good luck on your journey. Cheers, Jennifer (jenbud@sbcglobal.net)

  3. Hello Leslie,
I am a 57 year old female also in Michigan. I was diagnosed years ago with fibromyalgia and recently with RA. Your post is inspiring. I have been unable to work for some years and the understanding you share about looking okay but feeling otherwise is great. I have struggled with years with negativity and have actually been told I don't look disabled or am not entitled to SSI. After dealing poorly with the first diagnosis and blow back, I have found its easier to deal with this diagnosis. I thank you for your posts to help highlight some of the issues we face.
